Langmeil is home to The Freedom Shiraz, believed to be planted in 1843 by vigneron Christian Auricht. Escaping war and persecution in Prussia, Auricht travelled to his new homeland, finding Freedom in the Barossa Valley. His original plantings survive to this day and are some of the oldest and rarest vines in the world.

Medium depth crimson with purple hues. A rich and intense aroma of ripe Satsuma plum, mocha and ANZAC cookies mingle with hints of cedar, violets and sweet spice. Sweet, juicy fruit is balanced wonderfully with briary and sweet spice and lovely, silky tannins. A medium bodied wine showing great complexity with savoury hints, cedar and biscuit, which, in combination flows through to the lengthy, fruitful and spicy finish.
